Summer Care for Your Lash Extensions

Summertime means sun, sand, and sunscreen but it can also cause wear and tear on your beautiful lash extensions. Give your lashes some extra love during these hot months by following these tips to make sure they look their best from beach to bed.

1. Protect with Products. The first line of defense to protecting your lash extensions is Xtreme Lash Protective Coating. This formula, specially created for the Xtreme Lash brand of extensions gets applied like a mascara and forms a barrier to prevent wear and tear on lashes. This product should be applied to clean, dry lashes no more than three times a week for best results. Ask Samantha about this product at your next lash fill. Also, sunscreen is a must if you will be sitting outside, but the oils in sunscreen can breakdown the adhesive in your lash extensions and cause them to fall out sooner than later. Make sure you apply an oil-free sunscreen and DO NOT rub it directly over your lash extensions. We recommend our Bioelements SPF50 Facescreen which our estheticians use during facials and is available at Revive Spa.

 

2. Keep em’ Clean and Dry. Just like the rest of the year, keeping your lashes clean and dry will improve the longevity of your lash extensions. This becomes harder during the summertime when sweat and water are hard to avoid. Wear a headband or hat to restrict sweat from dripping on the lashes. If your lashes get dirty from sand or sweat make it a point to get them washed clean as quickly as possible (remember to use oil-free cleanser!). Fan them dry or lightly dab them, avoid rubbing or using an abrasive towel for drying.

 

3. Consider 2 Week Fill Appointments. For our clients who regularly get 3 week maintenance, consider changing over to 2 week fills for the summertime if you see increased lash loss. Clients who normally come in for 2 week fills can call or speak to Samantha at their next fill about touchup sessions for the summertime.
